SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - With the 2009 season winding down, Wittenberg took on Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) power Heidelberg, dropping a pair of games, 12-4 and 9-3. The visiting Student Princes pounced on Tiger miscues for 28 hits and 21 runs to drop the Red & White five games under .500.
Tiger relievers enjoyed some of the spotlight on the night, as a pair of seniors recorded scoreless innings in the second contest. Josh Fiebiger (Fletcher, Ohio/Miami East) andChris Green (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) pitched the fifth and ninth innings, respectively, combining to set down their opponents in order in both frames. Freshman Matt Rupert (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) added an inning and two-thirds of scoreless relief in the first meeting.
At the plate, sophomore Ray Noe (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) went 3-6 on the evening with a couple of RBIs to add to his total, which currently sits at 27, good for second on the roster.
A doubleheader with the Kenyon Lords on Wednesday, April 29, wraps up the 2009 campaign for Head Coach Jay Lewis and his team. The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. as the Tigers send off their senior class.
