Springfield, Ohio — The Wittenberg University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host Take a Kid to the Game Day on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Wittenberg's Take a Kid to the Game Day event is scheduled for the football game against North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Wooster, which is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. that day. Elementary and middle-school age children will be admitted free of charge in the company of a parent or guardian, who will be charged the standard admission price of $8.
Take a Kid to the Game Day is an NCAA program started 16 years ago to provide member institutions with an opportunity for community outreach by introducing area youth to collegiate athletics programs. Adults are encouraged to take children to collegiate sporting events, inspiring them to pursue higher education opportunities and athletics.
In addition to free entrance into the game, the children will be given tickets for a free soft drink and hot dog from the concession stand at Edwards-Maurer Field. They also will receive a Wittenberg football team picture, which they will be allowed to take onto the field after the game to request autographs from Tiger student-athletes.
Finally, a food drive will take place during the game to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. The men's lacrosse team is spearheading the food drive for SAAC. Team members will be stationed near both entrances to accept donations of either canned food or cash.
