The Tigers finished the 2016 campaign with an overall record of 10-2, and their 14th NCAC League Title. Wittenberg went on to defeat the #15 Saints of Thomas More in four-overtimes in the opening round of the NCAA Playoffs, before bowing out the following week to #2 Wisconsin-Whitewater.
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg football was ranked #16 in the country on Monday, as D3football.com released their preseason Top 25 poll. The Tigers received 204 points in the poll, six behind #15 UW-Platteville, and nine ahead of #17 Frostburg State.

The Tigers return many key pieces to both sides of the ball from their 2016 squad, as Joe Fincham enters the 2017 campaign with 191 career wins, placing him in the top ten amongst active Division III coaches.
Wittenberg opens up the season on the road at Westminster (Pa.) on Saturday, September 2 at 1:00PM, and opens up at home against Oberlin on September 16.
