Coach Collins Welcomes Clay Davie As Newest Addition To Tiger Staff
Wittenberg University Head Football Coach Jim Collins '88 adds Clay Davie as the newest member of the Tiger coaching staff heading into the 2022 season. Coming to Springfield via Fort Collins, Colorado, Davie previously served as the Offensive Quality Control Coach for NCAA Division I Colorado State University. Davie is set to serve as the Tigers Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator.
"We are really excited to have Clay Davie joining our staff here at Wittenberg University," said Head Coach Jim Collins. "I have followed Clay's coaching career and he has a proven track record as an outstanding technician, teacher, and recruiter. More importantly, he is a high character individual who values the impact he can make in the lives of the young men he coaches."
While on the Rams staff, Davie served under Head Coach Steve Addazio where he assisted with their Offensive Line. Davie was involved with offensive game planning, recruiting, and the creation of advanced football teaching materials.

Before arriving in Fort Collins, Davie served as Tight Ends Coach at the University of New Mexico from 2015-19. His longest stint in Albuquerque, Davie served as a Graduate Assistant for the Offensive Line from 2012 to 2015. While with the Lobos some of his highlights included, the 2015 season which UNM achieved their first winning season and bowl bid since 2007, with a rushing offense ranked in the top 10 nationally. In 2016, the Lobos returned to a bowl game marking only their fourth back-to-back bowl appearance in school history, and led the nation in rushing yardage. With the win in the 2016 New Mexico Bowl, the Lobos earned their first bowl win since 2007 and second in 50 years.
Davie began coaching journey with the Arizona State Sun Devil football program as a Football Operations Graduate Assistant. Having spent four years as a walk-on at Arizona State, Davie served a vital role in the day-to-day management of the PAC-12 program.
Davie attended Arizona State University, earning a walk-on position with the Sun Devil football team in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Along the way, Davie was a part of an Arizona State squad that earned a share of the PAC-12 Championship in 2007. Off the field, Davie was a Dean's List recipient and three-time Arizona State Athletics "Scholar Baller".
Davie is married to Nora Hickey, a writer and adjunct professor.
