Wittenberg Football Closes Season With Big Win Over Kenyon
SPRINGFIELD, OH - The Wittenberg Tigers put the finishing touches on the 2025 season with a resounding 35-0 defeat of visiting Kenyon.
With the win, Wittenberg improved to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The Tigers finished the season 2-1 under Interim Head Coach Joe Nemith, who was leading the team for the first time at Edwards-Maurer Field since taking the reins. Kenyon finished the season with records of 1-9 overall and 1-7 in the NCAC.
In a game that featured a combined nine turnovers between the two teams, it was the Tigers who parlayed those miscues into points. Wittenberg's defense recorded its second shutout in the last three games, in the process holding Kenyon to just three completions, nine first downs, and a mere 72 yards of total offense.
Wittenberg forced five turnovers, including four interceptions, and also recorded four sacks in the game. The play that broke the game open late in the second quarter was an interception by sophomore linebacker Will Dix Jr. (), who grabbed a tipped pass at the Kenyon 45-yard-line and took it down the sideline and into the end zone to stake the Tigers to a 20-0 halftime advantage.
Sophomore quarterback JJ Miller (Amelia, OH / Williamsburg) completed 18-of-28 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown in the game. He also ran for 47 yards on 10 carries, highlighted by a 26-yard touchdown run.
Three Wittenberg wide receivers finished with six catches in the game. Sophomore BJ Williams (Fort Myers, FL / Barron Collier) had six receptions for 82 yards, sophomore Pierce Ayers (Alexandria, KY / Williamsburg) added six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown, and junior Henry Jones (Cumming, GA / Landmark Christian) contributed six receptions for 49 yards. On the ground, sophomore running back T.J. Meeks (Springfield, OH / Shawnee) led the way with 14 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown, and freshman Gerald Banks (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central) rounded out the scoring with a fourth-quarter touchdown covering 15 yards.
Dix led the defense with two interceptions and five total tackles, in support of the game-high 12 tackles registered by senior safety Luke Jackson (DeGraff, OH / Indian Lake). Also of note, junior defensive end Dalton Allen (Delaware, OH / Hayes) registered five tackles and three quarterback hurries and freshman safety Dravyn Oblak (Gibsonton, FL / East Bay) recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass.
