Bio
Scott Browning joined Wittenberg's football coaching staff in March 2025. He is charged with mentoring the Tigers' offensive lineman, and for the last three games of the 2025 season, he is also serving as the team's offensive coordinator.
Most recently, Browning spent the 2024 season as an assistant coach working with the defensive line at Capital University. The 2024 season marked Browning's return to Capital, where he played football for one season as an undergraduate student before completing his degree in physical education at Ohio State. It was also a return to his home state for the Perrysville, Ohio, native. Prior to the 2024 season, Browning served as the offensive coordinator and an academic support staff member at St. John's Catholic Prep in Maryland.
The bulk of Browning's career was spent Edinboro University, where he was an assistant coach for 20 years and then the program's head coach for 10 years. He left Edinboro with an overall head coaching record of 57-54, two seasons that ended with the team ranked in the top-25 nationally, and one NCAA Division II playoff appearance. Before arriving at Edinboro, Browning held assistant coaching roles in various capacities with McDaniel, Iowa State, Ohio State, Idaho State, and New Mexico State.
A 1981 graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Education, Browning began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Worthington High School in suburban Columbus and Fairview High School in Dayton from 1979-81. Browning later earned a master’s degree in Education Administration from New Mexico State in 1983.
Browning and his wife, Lynn, have two children, Andrew and Katelyn. He left the University following the 2025 season.
