Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg field hockey squad played strong defensively for 70 minutes of action, but it wasn't enough as visiting Denison escaped Edwards-Maurer Field with a 1-0 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. Denison improved to 5-0 on the season in NCAC play, while Wittenberg dropped to 2-3 in league play.

The Big Red, who finished the game with 16 total shots, tallied the lone score of the match early in the first half on a put back goal from Charlotte Happel.
Senior goalie Allie Purvis anchored Wittenberg's defensive unit in the one-goal loss with a season-best 10 saves in goal for the Tigers.
