Tigers Come Up Short in Loss to Centre
SPRINGFIELD, OH - The field hockey team took on Centre College for their second game in as many days. After falling in their opener 3-0 to Rhodes, the Tigers dropped their second game of the season by the same score in similar fashion. After the loss, Wittenberg moves to 0-2, while Centre's record now improves to 2-0.
All of the scoring in the game came from the Colonels in the first half. Only five minutes into the game, they scored their first goal and after multiple stops on the defensive end, Centre broke through again in the 22nd minute of the game to take a 2-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Centre scored once again to increase their lead to 3-0. At halftime, both team changed their goalkeepers and both teams were held scoreless in the second half for the game to end in favor of Centre, 3-0.
Team Leaders
- Devyn Groves (La Grange, KY / Oldham County Senior) was the only Tiger to record a shot with three, two of which were on goal.
- Taryn Toburen (Lititz, PA / Warwick) led all goalkeepers in saves with eight while facing 11 shots and Essence Wyse (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy) saved the three shots on goal against her in the second half.

- Centre led in shots by a count of 24-3 which led to Wittenberg with the lead in saves, 11-2.
- The Colonels took seven penalty corners to none for the Tigers and Centre committed 39 fouls to Wittenberg's 31.
