Field Hockey Picks Up Second Straight Win
OBERLIN, OH – It's two in a row for the Tiger field hockey team as they scored a goal late in the fourth period to overtake Oberlin, 2-1, on the road on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Austin F. Knowlton Athletics Complex in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) battle.
Senior Morgan Myers (York, PA / West York Area) knocked in the winning goal off an assist by fellow senior Emily Owens (Stow, OH / Stow-Munroe Falls) at the 54:28 mark of the game to give the Tigers an exciting finish and their second win of the season.
Wittenberg was the first to score, putting a goal on the board at the 10:30 mark of the first period off the stick of Devyn Groves (La Grange, KY / Oldham County Senior), unassisted, for the 1-0 lead. Oberlin tied things in the second period at the 24:02 mark to make it 1-1. The two teams played tough on defense the rest of the way until Wittenberg finally broke through with less than six minutes to go.
The Tigers had 12 shots total, seven on goal. Maddy Krasnow (Bexley, OH / Bexley) led the team in shots with four, one on goal, and Groves and Lexi Cutler (Farmington Hills, MI / North Farmington) each had three shots in the game.
