Five Tigers Earn All-NCAC Field Hockey Recognition
Cleveland, OH - Five Wittenberg Field Hockey athletes earned postseason awards from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The Tigers had one athlete named to the All-NCAC second-team and four addtional players earned third-team honors.
The Tigers' lone second-team selection was senior midfielder Emily Owens (Stow, OH / Stow-Munroe Falls), which was the first time in her career she has received all-conference recognition. Those who received third-team honors were senior forward Devyn Groves (La Grange, KY / Oldham County Senior), junior forward Maddy Krasnow (Bexley, OH / Bexley), junior defensive back Aysha Johnson (Kettering, OH / Fairmont), and freshman goalkeeper Taryn Toburen (Lititz, PA / Warwick). The all-conference recognition was the second of Groves' career, after being named to the first-team in 2024. Krasnow also received third-team recongnition for the second time in her career, as she was named to the All-NCAC third team in 2023. Johnson and Toburen each earned their first All-NCAC team recognition and Toburen was one of only three goalkeepers from the conference to earn honors.
Krasnow and Groves tied for the team lead in goals this season with four each and Krasnow finished with 10 points and Groves with nine. Johnson added a goal of her own on the season to finish with two points, as did Owens, who tallied two assists to tie for the team's lead in that category with Krasnow. In her first collegiate season, Toburen started 13 games, allowing 38 goals for a 2.98 goals against average, and she had a save percentage of .782 while earning one shutout on the season.
The Tigers finished fourth in the NCAC regular season standings with a 6-3 record. Their season came to a close as they fell to regular season champions Ohio Wesleyan 3-0 in the NCAC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Tigers posted a 6-11 record overall.
