Aysha Johnson Named NFHCA Scholar Of Distinction

SPRINGFIELD, OH - For the second straight year, Wittenberg University field hockey student-athlete Aysha Johnson (Kettering, OH / Fairmont) has been recognized for her superior academic performance by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Johnson was among 543 undergraduate student-athletes from more than 130 NCAA Division III institutions who have achieved recognition as 2025 Division III Scholars of Distinction, which celebrates student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 of higher.
Johnson is a junior defender who also plays in the midfield for the Tigers. After making 10 appearances off the bench as a freshman in 2023, Johnson appeared in all 14 games in 2024, starting five of them and recording four points on one goal and two assists. As a junior, Johnson stepped into the starting lineup full-time, starting all 17 games and contributing one goal and one defensive save to the final stats sheet. Also a three-time NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad honoree, Johnson earned third-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors following the 2025 season.
The Tigers finished fourth in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular season standings with a 6-3 record. Their season came to a close as they fell to regular season champions Ohio Wesleyan 3-0 in the NCAC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Tigers posted a 6-11 record overall in 2025.
