The Tiger men's basketball team has been ranked among the nation's top 25 and the Great Lakes Region's top 10 for much of the season. The regular season North Coast Athletic Conference champion each of the last two years and the conference tournament champion in 2002, Wittenberg is back atop the standings again this year with a mark of 6-0. Overall, the Tigers have an 11-3 record, but just one loss was against an NCAA Division III opponent. Wednesday night's opponent, Wabash, was one of the conference's preseason favorites and is off to an outstanding 11-3 start of its own, including a 5-1 mark in the NCAC.

The Tiger women's basketball team is off to another great start in hopes of defending their NCAC regular season championship of a year ago. Wittenberg is 11-4 overall and 6-0 against conference competition. The Tigers are within three victories of guaranteeing themselves of a 14th consecutive winning season, dating back to 1989-90, but they have designs on bigger prizes, including a ninth regular season NCAC championship and a seventh berth in the NCAA Division III tournament. Kenyon, one of four teams tied for fourth place in the conference at 3-3 (8-6 overall), figures to provide a stiff challenge.
