OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Wittenberg men's basketball team fell to 13th-ranked Randolph-Macon by a score of 70-49 on Saturday night, wrapping up the Tigers' trip to the Hoopsville National Invitational Classic hosted by Stevenson.
The Tigers trailed only 35-29 at the half, but Randolph-Macon opened up a solid lead over the course of the second half, winning the period 35-20.
The Yellow Jackets hit 15-of-18 free throws and attempted more field goals than the Tigers while hitting them at a similar rate. Wittenberg, on the other hand, went 6-for-15 at the free throw line.
Three Tigers split the team lead in scoring with seven points apiece: freshman Chad Roy (Toledo, Ohio/Holland Springfield) went 3-for-5 from the field, while freshman Troy Mundy (Blacklick, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) and sophomore Brock Kiesler (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) both grabbed the lead while coming off the bench.
Sophomore Jaelin Williams (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) led the rebounding chart with seven, including four offensive boards.
Things were relatively even in many aspects of the game: each had 28 points in the paint and 21 points off the bench, while Randolph-Macon had nine second-chance point and Wittenberg had eight.
The Tigers hope to break the spell on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. visiting Otterbein College.
