Wittenberg Kicks Off Home Opener With 68-62 Win Over Baldwin Wallace
SPRINGFIELD, OH – Wittenberg Men's Basketball held off Baldwin Wallace 68-62 to earn the Tigers their first win of the 2025-26 season. The Tigers did it by controlling the pace from the opening tip as they never trailed throughout the contest.
Key contributions came from multiple players. Eddie Brown (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) led the way with 13 points and five rebounds, while Tyler Galluch (Springfield, OH / Central Catholic) added 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Dawson Scott (New Castle, IN / New Castle) scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds, including a crucial basket with 12 seconds left to push the lead to 66-62 on an assist from Galluch. Noah Frayer (Odenton, MD / SPIRE Academy) also chipped in 10 points and 4 rebounds, providing steady scoring support.
Wittenberg's offense came alive in the second half, with Brown, Galluch, and Scott combining for 27 of their points, swinging the momentum firmly in the Tigers' favor. The Tigers were efficient at the free throw line as well, converting 20-of-24 attempts, including a pair of late free throws from Kyle Kenney (Centerville, OH / Little Miami) that helped seal the win by extending the lead 68-62 with three seconds remaining.
The Tigers' performance was defined not only by scoring but also by their defensive play, with contributions from multiple players on both ends of the floor propelling the team to victory. Wittenberg limited Baldwin Wallace's opportunities inside the paint, contested perimeter shots, and forced turnovers at key moments to maintain control.
With the victory, the Tigers moved to 1-1 on the young season. Wittenberg will continue its non-conference slate with a return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, for a 5 p.m. tip at home against Wilmington.
