Wittenberg Puts 104 Points on the Board in Win Over Adrian
ADRIAN, MI – Wittenberg's men's basketball team put 100 points on the board for the first time since 2020 in its big road victory over Adrian College on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in a non-conference contest at Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
Seventeen players got minutes and four scored in double digits as the Tigers rolled to a 104-90 victory to pick up their third win in a row and improve to 3-1 on the season. Adrian College drops to 1-4 overall and was dealt its third-straight loss. The last time Wittenberg's men's basketball team scored 100 points was twice in 2020 when it beat Denison, 100-59, on Feb. 5, and Hiram, 100-82, on Jan. 11 of that same year.
Against Adrian, it was back-and-forth in the first half until the Tigers got the upper hand with just over three minutes to play in the first half. With things tied at 37-all, Witt went on a 12-6 run and headed to the locker room at the half up 49-43.
The Tigers never looked back after the intermission, continuing to build on their lead and outscoring the Bulldogs 55-47 in the second half to capture the victory.
Four players scored in double digits in the offensive onslaught, with Tyler Galluch (Springfield, OH / Catholic Central) leading the way with 20, Jace Wardlow (Bowling Green, KY / Bowling Green) and Daryl Cooper (Miamisburg, OH / Miamisburg) each dropped in 17, and Eddie Brown (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) added 16. Cooper was 3-of-4 from three-point land, and Dawson Scott (New Castle, IN / New Castle) led the team in rebounds with seven. Spence Davidson (Lebanon, OH / Lebanon) led the team in assists with five.
Wittenberg shot 61.3 percent from the field, while Adrian was 53.2 percent. Rebounds were close, with the Bulldogs pulling down 28, to 27 for the Tigers. Witt had 21 points off turnovers, 50 points in the paint, and 48 points off the bench. There were 10 ties and 20 lead changes in the game.
Wittenberg is now 1-1 vs. Adrian, falling to the Bulldogs in 2022, 77-73.
Wittenberg hits the road once again heading, to Capital on Saturday, Nov. 22. Tipoff is at 3 p.m.
