Tiger Men's Golf Welcomes Three Recruits In Class of 2018
Dylan Ahonen, Maxim Boone and Brennan Whitis are set to join the program in August 2014.
Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University Men’s Golf Head Coach Jeff Roope has announced that three student-athletes will join the Tiger program in August 2014.
The new recruits join a team that won seven tournaments during the 2013-14 season, including both ends of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Series. After winning their fifth straight league championship, the Tigers rallied to finish fifth in the NCAA Division III Tournament, the second-best finish in program history.
Wittenberg is expected to return eight letterwinners to the roster in 2014-15, including All-Americans Alex Andrews and John Chaney. The Tigers will begin their quest for the first national championship in program history Sept. 6-7 at Transylvania’s Fall Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.
The new recruits are:
- Dylan Ahonen (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy)
- Maxim Boone (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster)
- Brennan Whitis (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman)
“I am looking forward to working with this outstanding group of young men and welcoming them to the Wittenberg University community,” Roope said. “I look forward to working with them over the next four years and helping them succeed both academically and athletically.”
