Tiger Men's Golf Finishes Mid-Pack at Loaded Snead Intercollegiate
WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Continuing a challenging stretch of spring competitions, Wittenberg Men's Golf made another long road trip, this time heading to Virginia to compete in the Sam Snead Intercollegiate, hosted by Piedmont University at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. Like most of the Tigers' other tournaments in the 2025-26 school year, almosrt all of the teams in the field were ranked in the top 50 of the Clippd rankings, including two of the top three teams in the nation, and once again the Tigers put together a solid performance, this time finishing in a tie for 11th place.
Second-ranked Carnegie Mellon finished first in the field at 2-over-par, followed by third-ranked Methodist, which was eight strokes behind with a 10-over-par finish. Wittenberg's North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Kenyon rounded out the top three at 20-over-par. The Tigers tied Franklin & Marshall for 11th place in the 21-team field.
Wittenberg's top individual finisher was Mark Sulek (Delaware, OH / Hayes). He placed 14th overall at 6-over-par after carding rounds of 79, 70, and 74. Mikey Schutte (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) was Wittenberg's second finisher in 21st-place overall at 8-over-par with scores of 76, 74, and 71. In 55th and rounding out the top three for the Tigers at 14-over-par was Griffin Turner (Enon, OH / Greenon), who carded a first-round 73, second-round 79, and third-round 75. Alex Rath (Dublin, OH / Scioto) tied Caleb Domitrovich (McDonald, OH / McDonald) to place 87th. Rath shot rounds of 74, 82, and 79 for 22-over-par, and Domitrovich shot 75 in round 1, 80 in round 2, and 80 in round 3, also scoring 22-over-par.
The Tigers will head back out on the course next week much closer to home as they travel to Granville, Ohio, for the Denison Spring Shootout, hosted by the Denison University at Denison Golf Club, a historic Donald Ross-designed course.
