WOOSTER, Ohio - In a matchup that continues to show all the makings of an NCAC rivalry, the Wittenberg Tigers battled Wooster to a 9-9 stalemate through three quarters before the home-standing Scots pulled out the 12-9 win.
Jumping out to a three-goal lead early in the third quarter, Head Coach George Harris' team appeared intent on repeating last year's feat with another win over Wooster. The Scots responded with a third-quarter run of their own to take their first lead since the opening moments before a Brady Christensen (Medina, Ohio/Medina) goal knotted things up at nine apiece late in the third quarter. However, the Tigers would not score again.
Leading the way for the Red & White, sophomore Matt Lord (Pickerington, Ohio/North) poured in a hat trick as he approaches the 30-goal threshhold. Christensen added another as the Tigers fell to 7-5 and 1-3 in NCAC play.
Freshman Spencer Baker (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) started in goal and compiled nine stops in the net. The Tigers' season comes to a close Saturday, May 2 when Ohio Wesleyan visits for a 3 p.m. meeting from Edwards-Maurer Field.
