Scott Morrison Named Head Coach At Adrian
After two years as an assistant at Wittenberg, Morrison takes the reins at NCAA Division III regional rival Adrian.
Springfield, Ohio – After two successful seasons as an assistant coach for the Wittenberg University men’s lacrosse program, Scott Morrison has been named the head coach at Adrian College.
Wittenberg posted a two-year record of 18-10 with Morrison serving as an assistant, first for George Harris and last season for Jay Owen. He was involved in all facets of the program, including recruiting, academic support, game and practice planning, and alumni relations.
Morrison assumes the reins of one of the top programs in the Midwest. Adrian has posted a winning record every year since the program started in 2007, and the Bulldogs have won five straight conference championships (three in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and two in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) while compiling a perfect 35-0 record in regular season league play. Adrian has advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament four straight years, and won the first postseason game in program history against Otterbein in 2013.
“Scott will be missed at Wittenberg,” said Owen, who guided the Tigers to a 10-5 record and the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament semifinals a year ago. “He did an outstanding job working with our student-athletes and providing leadership in our program, especially during a time of transition in 2013.”
Morrison, who played collegiately at NCAA Division II Northwood University, previously coached at the University of Michigan, where he helped the club team to an undefeated season and the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association national championship in 2008. He followed that with one season as head coach of the club team at the University of Arizona before spending three seasons as an assistant at Trine University.
A nationwide search to find a replacement for Morrison will begin soon.
