Tigers Fall In Home Finale To Ohio Wesleyan

Springfield, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's lacrosse team hosted Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday evening from Edwards-Maurer Field, falling to the Battling Bishops 20-10 in the final home game of the 2019 season. The Tigers fell behind 13-6 at the half, as Ohio Wesleyan went on to outscore the Red and White 7-4 in the second half of action. Four different Tiger players tallied two goals on the evening, while Cooper Harris netted two goals with two assists to his credit.

Game Breakdown

Ohio Wesleyan put up the first two goals of the game, scoring back-to-back goals in the first ten minutes of action. Wittenberg bounced back with a goal of their own from Cam Kennedy assisted by Harris to put the Tigers on the board and cut the OWU lead in half. Wittenberg was back on the attack less than a minute later, as Andrew Ellis found the back of the Battling Bishops net of the Lucas Klever feed to bring the game back to even at 2-2. After four straight Ohio Wesleyan goals, Ellis found the back of the net for his second goal with a creative unassisted third Wittenberg goal. Wittenberg would take advantage of the OWU penalty, as Harris capitalized off of the Noah Moderwell assist and cutting the Battling Bishops lead in half at 10-5. Harris would once again capitalize on the man-up opportunity, scoring off the Klever assist for the sixth Wittenberg goal of the game with just under a minute remaining in the half. Michael Carluccio got the offense rolling in the second half for the Red and White with back-to-back goals, scoring his first off of the Ellis assist, before scoring his own unassisted goal. Noah Moderwell scored the third straight Tiger goal, converting on the Harris assist and taking the game to 16-9. Jerry Coyle tallied the final goal for Wittenberg with just under 10 minutes remaining in the action, as the Battling Bishops took the final decision 20-10.

Who Stood Out

Tony Lebarge forced four Ohio Wesleyan turnovers while picking up three groundballs in the game. Nick Medley had two caused turnovers to his credit on the evening and picked up four groundballs.


Wittenberg will travel to NCAC rival Wooster on Saturday, April 27 to close out the regular season. Faceoff is set for 2:00 PM.
