Men’s Lacrosse Suffers 9-3 Defeat Against Oberlin
OBERLIN, OH – Wittenberg Men's Lacrosse suffered a 9-3 defeat at the hands of league-leading Oberlin on the road Wednesday, April 8, in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) contest at Dick Bailey Field, part of the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.
Wittenberg jumped out front first, scoring a goal in the first period off the stick of Tripp Salowich (Plymouth, MI / Canton) with an assist from Charlie Boucuvalas (Oakwood, OH / Oakwood) with 9:46 on the clock.
Oberlin answered with two quick goals in the second frame to take a 2-1 lead. The Tigers struck two more times in the second, with both goals coming again from Salowich, who turned in a hat trick on the day. He scored at the 6:54 mark and again with 5:51 remaining in the half, both goals unassisted.
But the Yeomen would answer his goals with two more of their own to take a 4-3 lead after two were in the books. They also tightened up their defense, shutting out Wittenberg in the final two periods, while scoring five more times – three in the third and two more in the fourth to secure the win.
It was Oberlin's third win in a row, putting the Yeomen at 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference, to stay remain undefeated. Wooster and Kenyon are also undefeated in the league. Wittenberg is now 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the NCAC.

- Salowich scored all the Tigers' goals on five shots, four on goal, and added one ground ball.
- Tyler Bast (Noblesville, IN / Hamilton Southeastern), Tommy Kipfer (Powell, OH / Olentangy), Brayden Ballinger (Grove City, OH / Grove City), and Griffin Howell (Whitestown, IN / Zionsville Community) each had three ground balls. Kipfer had two caused turnovers.
- Howell recorded 21 saves in the goal.
