Men’s Lacrosse Defeated by Ohio Wesleyan, 21–8, in NCAC Action
DELAWARE, OH – Wittenberg Men's Lacrosse dropped a 21–8 decision to Ohio Wesleyan University in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Tuesday afternoon at Selby Field.
Ohio Wesleyan set the tone early, scoring four of the first five goals in the opening quarter. Wittenberg answered with goals from Tripp Salowich (Plymouth, MI / Canton), Ty Harris (Cincinnati, OH / Sycamore), and Mikey Clark (Hilliard, OH / Davidson) to stay within reach, but the host Battling Bishops carried a 5–3 lead after one period.
The Battling Bishops pulled away in the second quarter, using a six-goal run to extend their advantage to 11–4 at halftime. Henry Ross led the offensive surge for Ohio Wesleyan during the stretch, recording three goals in the quarter.
Ohio Wesleyan continued to control play in the third quarter, adding six more goals to build a 17–5 lead. Harris scored his second goal of the contest for Wittenberg during the period, assisted by Salowich.
Wittenberg added three goals in the fourth quarter, including tallies from Brody Mallo (Stow, OH / Stow Munroe Falls) and Matthew Patterson (Columbus, OH / Westerville South), while Salowich completed his hat trick with a late goal. Despite the late scoring, Ohio Wesleyan closed the game with four goals in the final period to secure the conference victory.
Salowich paced the Tigers with three goals and one assist, while Harris finished with two goals. Clark contributed a goal and two assists, and Travis Demsher (Santa Clarita, CA / West Ranch) added an assist in the effort.
In goal, Griffin Howell (Whitestown, IN / Zionsville Community) made 24 saves while playing all 60 minutes for Wittenberg. Defensively, the Tigers forced six caused turnovers as they worked to disrupt Ohio Wesleyan's offense.
