Wittenberg Falls to Ohio Wesleyan, 4-0

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Wittenberg fell victim to the superlative offense and defense of the nationally ranked Battling Bishops from Ohio Wesleyan at Bill Edwards Field on Saturday. The Tigers hung close for a while before suffering a 4-0 defeat, their first in three North Coast Athletic Conference games in 2004.
The Tigers suffered their first blow when OWU senior Drew Kaszublski challenged Wittenberg freshman goalkeeper Ben McAnnis-Entenman, taking the ball away in front of the goal and finding an open net for the game's first score. Wittenberg's defense continued to fight, however, keeping the Bishops to a 1-0 lead going into the half.
Ohio Wesleyan came out firing in the second half, accumulating three more goals before the end of the game. The Tigers only managed six shots in the entire game, four of which came in the second half.
The Tigers are back in action Tuesday as they travel to Earlham to take on the Terriers in another NCAC battle. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. (EST). Wittenberg heads into the game with a 5-7 overall record, including a mark of 2-1 in the NCAC.
