OBERLIN, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers allowed one goal in each half in a 2-0 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) loss at Oberlin.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 5-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the NCAC, heading into their final nonconference game on the 2012 schedule against Point Park on Tuesday. Oberlin improved to 7-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference.
The Tigers were outshot 15-7 in the game, led by senior Alejandro Garcia (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis) with two. Wittenberg was able to direct three of those shots on frame, but Oberlin netminder Brandt Rentel was equal to the task each time. The Tigers did hold a 7-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
At the other end, the Tigers gave up scores in the ninth minute and 79th minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Mengerink (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes) was credited with five saves for Wittenberg.
