Men's Soccer Stays Hot; Passes Their Way to 3-1 Win Over Bluffton

BLUFFTON, Ohio—Wittenberg men's soccer won its second match in as many tries on Tuesday night, as the Tigers traveled to Bluffton for a non-conference tilt. The Tigers downed Bluffton 3-1, as the Tigers netted the first goal and then the final two on the road. Wittenberg was led by senior Tucker Stas who assisted on a Patrick Szymczak goal in the first half, and netted a goal of his own to take the lead late in the second-half. Wittenberg improves to 3-4 in 2016, as Bluffton falls to 2-4 on the young season.

GAME NOTES

• Szymczak got the Tigers on the board 21 minutes into Tuesday's game on an assist from Stas, as the senior netted his first goal of 2016. 
• Bluffton knotted things up at 1-1 less than two minutes in to the second half, where the game would stay tied for nearly 30 minutes.
• Stas took matters into his own hands this time, sending a ball past Bluffton's goalie to break the 1-1 tie in the 73^rd minute.
• John Long picked up his first assist of the season on Stas' go ahead goal, in the victory.
• Robbie Russell tied the bow on the victory for the Tigers, scoring a goal to put the Tigers up 3-1 in the 83^rd minute.
• Russell was set up beautifully on the scoring play from Samuel Archinal, who recorded his first assist of the season.

KEY STATS

• Wittenberg was utterly dominant on offense, as the Tigers produced 24 shots in the match to Bluffton's seven.
• Bluffton managed to only receive one corner kick in the game, as the Tigers capitalized on 11 opportunities Tuesday night.
