VanTilburg Earns NCAC Athlete of the Week Honors
The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Student-Athlete of the Week highlights two conference individuals each week, one male and one female, who excel in one or more of the following areas: academics, commitment, community service, leadership and perseverance. Student-athletes have been nominated by their respective schools and are from the current traditional playing season. This week's honorees are Kenyon volleyball sophomore Eras Yager (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area) and Wittenberg men's soccer senior Harrison VanTilburg (Grove City, OH/Bishop Ready).
Men's Student-Athlete of the Week – Harrison VanTilburg, Wittenberg
VanTilburg, a men's soccer senior at Wittenberg, has earned three varsity letters as a member of the Tigers. The goalie has appeared in 10 games for the Red and White, logging two career shutouts. Harrison serves as a team captain and has embodied the Wittenberg Athletics mission of 'Building Champions for a Lifetime', both on and off the field. Harrison's commitment to his team and his campus community is on display as he is an avid supporter of all the Wittenberg Tiger athletic teams where you can find him cheering on his fellow Tigers at most home contests.
"Harrison represents everything we look and hope for in a member of the Wittenberg family. He's a leader, 2-year Captain, and highly respected by his teammates and staff alike," said Head Coach Dwight Burgess, "All of which is made that much more significant given he doesn't play a lot of varsity minutes. But rather than making that a problem, he embraces the true 'team-first' mantra, shows up, works hard, and always supports his teammates. As a senior Harrison will be difficult if not impossible to replace. We, therefore, expect to enjoy with him, the time he has remaining at Witt."
