Springfield, OH – Wittenberg Men's Soccer came up just short in a 3-2 battle against Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday evening, as a late rally wasn't enough to overcome and early deficit.
Ohio Wesleyan opened the scoring in the first half and added two more after the break. The Tigers responded with a pair of second half goals in an effort to rally back.
Asher Donahue (Muncie, IN / Burris Laboratory School) put Wittenberg on the board with his his 10th goal of the season, on an assist by Kyler Hagstrom (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) at the 55-minute mark. Donahue added his second goal of the night and the 11th of the year on an assist by Collin LaVeck (Carroll, OH / Bloom-Carroll) later in the half as the Tigers tried to mount a comeback.
Wittenberg found its rhythm in the second half, applying pressure on Ohio Wesleyan and outshooting the Battling Bishops 17-8. The Tigers created multiple opportunities down the stretch but couldn't convcert the tying goal.
With the loss, the Tigers' move to 7-2-3 overall and 0-2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).
