Senior Day Celebration Ends in Draw
Springfield, OH - Wittenberg Men's Soccer celebrated Senior Recognition Day on Saturday at Edwards-Maurer Field, as the Tigers competed in their final game of the 2025 season against Wooster. There was plenty of action throughout the game's 90 minutes, but when the final horn sounded the Tigers and Scots finished up knotted at 0-0.
The Wittenberg seniors recognized prior to the game were Leroy Dannemiller (Columbus, OH / The Wellington School), Kyler Hagstrom (West Chester, OH / Lakota West), Christopher Meyer (Toledo, OH / St. Francis), Jackson Miller (Westerville, OH / South), Sam Nitzberg (Cincinnati, OH / Cincinnati Country Day), Jack Pascoal (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East), Ryan Shindeldecker (Findlay, OH / Findlay) and student assistant coaches, Beckham Corbett and Wyatt Poling.
It was a hard-fought game with great defense by both teams throughout as both keepers were able to record a shutout. Throughout the game, it was played very aggresively and sky-high intensity, as six different players were carded during the game.
An hour in, the Fighting Scots were able to finally find the back of the net, but the assistant referee had his flag raised, signifying offsides and the goal was wiped away. That was the best chance that either team had, with each keeper making great saves and possesion flipping back and forth for the majority of the game until the scoreless draw became final.
With the draw, the Tigers finished the season 7-4-7 overall and 0-4-4 in conference play, good for an eighth-place tie with Oberlin in the final NCAC standings. Wooster qualified for the NCAC Tournament for the first time in more than 20 years after securing the point against Wittenberg. The Scots will take records of 11-1-6 overall and 3-1-4 in the NCAC into the tournament as the #3 seed behind DePauw and Denison.
