Men's Swimming and Diving Fall Short in Home Opener
Springfield, OH - Wittenberg Men's Swimming and Diving hosted the Spartans of Manchester University for their first home meet of the season. The Tigers were able to come out of the meet with six top-two finishes, including a pair of first-place finishes. As a team, however, Wittenberg came up short by a score of 599-371.
The first top finish of the day came from sophomore Andrew Tackett (Cuyahoga Falls, OH / St. Vincent-St. Mary) as he finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle in 13:13.44. The other top finish was grabbed by the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Owen Gabel (New Bremen, OH / New Bremen), Tatum Paglia (Indianapolis, IN / Ben Davis), Mason Steen (Leroy, OH / Riverside) and Orry Farrington (Waterville, OH / Anthony Wayne) with a time of 1:34.89.
Steen went on to take second in the 200-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 1:57.47. He was able to place in second again with a time of 1:01.18 in the 100-yard individual medley. Paglia added a second-place finsih for the Tigers in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 26.33 seconds. Finally, Nathan Rabun (Marion, OH / Wynford) took the second-place spot in the 50-yard backstroke in 29.55.
