CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Senior Alexey Topolyanskiy (Moscow, Russia/School 712) continued to excel, winning at No. 2 singles against Wabash in an 8-1 loss.
The Wittenberg Tigers dropped to 1-11 as a team, but Topolyanskiy improved to 8-6 in singles play. The loss was in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division action, pushing the Tigers to 0-2 on the season.
Topolyanskiy and freshman Martin Mora (Quito, Ecuador) lost 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, and Mora also competed well at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 loss. Junior Dennis Gleason (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles) also nearly pulled out a singles victory, dropping a third-set tiebreaker at the No. 4 position.
The Tigers had just five players available for the match, so two of Wabash's wins came by forfeit.
