GRANVILLE, Ohio - Thanks to a rash of injuries, the Wittenberg Tigers were forced to play shorthanded in a 9-0 loss to Denison in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division match.
The loss dropped Wittenberg to 6-12 overall and 0-1 in the NCAC West. Denison, ranked 30th nationally, improved to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Wittenberg had just five players available for the match, so the Tigers had to give up points at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles without a match. After a doubles sweep by the Big Red, the Tigers got a strong showing at No. 1 singles from freshman Matt Arroyo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), who lost 6-4, 7-6.
