KNOXVILLE, TN – Wittenberg's men's tennis team captured its first win of the 2025-26 season, taking down Hastings, 4-3, on Tuesday, March 10, at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Tennessee during its Spring Break trip.
The Tigers won two out of three double matches to secure the doubles point, then Wittenberg got wins at first, second, and third singles to tally the victory.
The team of Christian Droz (Brunswick, OH / Brunswick) and Sam Garay (Oakwood, OH / Oakwood) dominated at first doubles, getting a 6-3 victory. At second doubles, Benjamin Glassman (Woodbridge, CT / Amity Regional) and Daniel Patel (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area) found themselves in quite the battle, pulling out a 7-6 win after taking the tiebreaker, 7-3.
On the singles side, Droz took No. 1 singles, posting a 6-4, 4-6, and 1-0 (10-6) win. Garay won in two straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4. Then at No. 3 singles, Glassman won a tough fight, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1) and 1-0 (10-6).

Earlier in the week, the men's team began its spring break trip with a 6-0 loss to Stevenson on March 8 at Greenspring Campus Tennis Courts. Garay and Droz won their doubles match 6-2, but Wittenberg couldn't secure the doubles point. Garay also had a good battle at No. 2 singles, winning the first set 6-1, but falling 6-4 in the second, forcing a tiebreaker that he lost, 12-10.
With the split, Wittenberg is now 1-2 overall. Hastings is 0-9 on the season, while Stevenson is 1-2.
Next up, the Tigers will take on Berea at the Wilson Evans Tennis Complex on March 15 in their final Spring Break match.
