Three Tigers Earn Academic All-District Recognition
SPRINGFIELD, OH - Three athletes from the Wittenberg men's tennis team earned Academic All-District Honors from College Sport Communicators. The players recognized for their athletic and academic achievements are Christian Droz (Brunswick, OH / Brunswick), Ben Glassman (Woodbridge, CT / Amnity Regional), and Daniel Patel (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area).
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the top student-athletes from around the nation in their respective sports that show their impressive performances both in competition and in the classroom. To earn Academic All-District, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher in both athletic and academic standing and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and have been part of the lineup for at least 70% of their team's matches.
Droz is a psychology major and has a 3.75 GPA and earned third-team All-NCAC honors in singles as well. This past season, Drox compiled records of 2-10 in singles matches and 4-8 in doubles matches. Glassman is a communication and digital media major with a 3.61 GPA and earned NCAC Athlete of the Week earlier this season while ending the year with records of 2-10 in singles and 2-9 in doubles. Patel is an exercise science major who boasts a 3.95 GPA. This past season, he posted a 2-10 record in singles while going 2-9 in doubles as well.
This season Droz played in both the first singles and first doubles spots, while Glassman and Patel played in the three and four singles spots and were teammates on the second doubles team. The Tigers closed out the season with a 2-12 record while going 0-6 in conference play.
