Granville, Ohio – The Wittenberg University track and field team participated in the Big Red Invitational on Friday evening, as the Tigers got in one last competition before the NCAC Championships on May 3-4.
David Haake took a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 56.86. Garrin Bachinski was the next best finisher for the Tigers on the men's side, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in a time of 16.48. Brandon Johnson (seventh) and Maurice Graham (eighth) crossed the line with back-to-back finishes in the 100-meter dash with times of 11.49 and 11.50. Johnson followed up with an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.11. Jaycee Perry and Paul Varnadoe both cleared a height in the high jump competition of 1.80 meters in a three-way tie for third place. Jonathan Seay logged an eighth-place finish in the shot put competition with a heave of 12.79m.
Ryelee Clary was the top Tiger finisher on the women's side with a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in a time of 15.71. Hannah Eley set a new outdoor record in the hammer throw competition with a toss of 46.26m, completing a toss of 46.26m. Wittenberg had two Tigers finish back-to-back in the 400-meter dash, as Maxine Wishman (third) and Gabriella Smith (fourth) crossed the lines with times of 1:01 and 1:02. Preslee Rolf was the top Wittenberg finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.15. Wittenberg would go back-to-back again in the 200-meter dash with Taylor Barnhisel (third) clocking a time of 27.20 and Wishman (fourth) crossing at 27.36. Madison Nadler took a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:17.45. Alexis Johnson logged a second-place finish in the long jump competition with a leap of 5.16m. Johnson added a sixth-place finish in the high jump competition, clearing a height of 1.45m. Kathryn Combs finished in fifth place in the discus competition with a toss of 33.33m.
