Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Teams Begin Season By Setting Four School Records
Springfield, OH – Wittenberg's men's and women's track and field teams came out of the gate strong, opening the 2025-26 season by setting four school records – three in the Tiger Opener and one in the Oiler Opener at the University of Findlay.
During the Tiger Opener, which took place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at The Steemer, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex, the men's team set three school records in the 400 dash, the 200 dash, and in the men's 4x400 relay. The meet featured 13 teams from across the state of Ohio, representing all three NCAA divisions.
Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) picked up a first in the men's 400 dash in a time of 47.59 for a school record with Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH/Springfield) hot on his heels for second at 47.67.
The team of Kittle, Elliott, Mason Duncan (Cardington, OH / Highland) and Dashawn Seye (Centerville, OH / Centerville) set the school record by winning the 4x400 in a time of 3:16.54. Then Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL/Groveport) was second in the 200 dash in a time of 21.76 for a school record. Highlights for the men's squad included two first-place finishes and five second-place finishes.
Other second place finishes included Kory Davis (Brookville, OH/Brookville) in the 60 hurdles at 8.33. Duncan was second in the 800 run at 1:57.57 and Matthew Keaton (Westerville, OH / North) picked up a second-place finish in the men's pole vault with a score of 4.25m.
In the opening meet of the season, The Oiler Opener that took place on Dec. 4-5 at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, Nicolas Farfoglia (Manchester, MD / Manchester Valley) set personal best marks in five out of seven events at the Oiler Opener to set a school record in the heptathlon with 4,556 points.
Highlights for the women included two second-place finishes. Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH / Mentor) was second in the 5000 Run in a time of 17:57.97 and Emma Hawk (Marion, Ohio / River Valley) finished fourth in the same race in a time of 18:27.42.
Kerrington Harper (Mason, OH / Mason) had a good meet picking up the other second-place finish in the long jump with a score of 5.37m. She also finished fifth in the high jump at 1.56m.
Men's Top 10 Finishers:
- Men's 5,000 Run: Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH / Northmont), 14:54.43, for fifth place.
- Men's 60 Hurdles: Kory Davis, 8.33, for second place; and Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood), 8.33, for third place.
- Men's 400 Dash: Jack Kittle, 47.59, for first place (school record), and Cameron Elliott, 47.67, for second place.
- Men's 300 Dash: Isaiah Shuler (Riverview, FL / Jule F Sumner), 37.52, for fifth place; Riley Payne, 39.23, for sixth place.
- Men's 60 Dash: Elijah Simmons, 6.96, for sixth place.
- Men's 800 Run: Mason Duncan, 1:57.57, for second place; Adam Veotte (Cincinnati, OH / Sycamore), 2:00.29 for sixth place.
- Men's 200 Dash: Elijah Simmons, 21.76, for second place and a school record.
- Men's 4x400 Relay: Seye, Elliott, Duncan, and Kittle, 3:16.54, for first place, school record.
- Men's Weight Throw: Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville), 14.54m, for fourth place; AJ Sutherly (Marysville, OH / Marysville), 14.45m, for fifth place; and Daniel Walker (Milford, OH / Milford), 14.25m, for sixth place; Donovan Dungy (Indianapolis, IN / Warren Central), 13.28m, for 10th place.
- Men's Pole Vault: Matthew Keaton (Westerville, OH / North), 4.25m, for second place, and Zachary Callahan(Lebanon, OH / Lebanon), 3.95m, tie for third; and Gage Dyke (Frankfort, OH / Zane Trace), 3.95m, for fifth place.
- Men's Long Jump: Antonio Weaver (Columbus, OH / Independence), 6.72m, for fourth place; Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH / St. Francis DeSales), 6.50m, for sixth place.
- Men's Triple Jump: Shareef Conateh (Columbus, OH / Home School), 12.16m, for sixth place; Caleb Creech (New Richmond, OH / New Richmond), 11.92m, for seventh place; and Andrew Owen (Springfield, OH / Springfield), 11.23m for eighth place.
- Men's Shot Put: DaVonte Dungy (Indianapolis, IN / Warren Central), 13.10m for sixth place; and Daniel Walker, 12.80m, for eighth place.
Women's Top 10 Finishers:
- Women's 5,000 Run: Maddi Clark, 17:57.97, for second place; and Emma Hawk, 18:27.42, for fourth place.
- Women's 60 Hurdles: Tyra Jackson (Lorain, OH / Lorain), 9.44, for fourth place.
- Women's 400 Dash: Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut), 59.63, for seventh place; and Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield), 1:00.03, for eighth place.
- Women's 300 Dash: Lauren Wagster (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield), 50.57, for ninth place.
- Women's High Jump: Kerrington Harper, 1.56m, for fifth place; and Maddie Doerman (West Chester, OH / Lakota West), 1.43m, for ninth place.
- Women's Long Jump: Kerrington Harper, 5.37m, for second place; Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak), 4.87m for eighth place.
- Women's 4x400 Relay: De'Armond, Ahnyx Russell (Westerville, OH / New Albany), Danne, Delp, 4:12.54, for eighth place.
- Women's Pole Vault: Rebekah Case (Mansfield, OH / Lucas), 2.90m, for eighth place.
Next up for the Tigers, both teams will compete in the Wooster Invitational on Jan. 17 beginning at noon at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.
