Tiger Track and Field Teams Celebrate Seniors at Wittenberg Invite
SPRINGFIELD, OH - On the same day that Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track and Field hosted the annual Wittenberg Invite, marking the final regular season indoor meet, the Tigers celebrated Senior Recognition Day with a ceremony prior to the meet. The seniors that were honored were Troy Crosby (Clayton, OH / Northmont), Mason Duncan (Cardington, OH / Highland), Gage Dyke (Frankfort, OH / Zane Trace), Lucas Eisele (West Carrollton, OH / West Carrollton), Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield), Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville), Taylor Insyxiengmay (Cincinnati, OH / Little Miami), Sam Nitzberg (Cincinnati, OH / Cincinnati Country Day), Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood), AJ Sutherly (Marysville, OH / Marysville) and Zayden Taylor (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge). It was a great end to the regular season for the Tigers, as they had multiple top five finishes across the board.
After the Senior Recognition Day ceremony concluded, the Tigers got down to the business of preparing for the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Track and Field championships, which will also take place in Wittenberg's home facility, The Steemer, on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28. The Wittenberg Invite served as an outstanding tune-up, as it featured a strong field of teams, including numerous NCAA Division I and II scholarship programs.
Top Five Finishes
- Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport Madison (OH)) finished fourth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.99 seconds.
- Wittenberg runners took the first three spots in the 1000-meter run as Taylor, Adam Veotte (Cincinnati, OH / Sycamore) and Sky Howard (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge) recorded times of 2:36.98, 2:38.06 and 2:38.7, respectively.
- Duncan took fifth in the 1000-meter run in a time of 2:40.60.
- Payne took second place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.34 seconds.
- The Wittenberg 4x400-meter relay team of Veotte, Howard, Xavier Allen (Tipp City, OH / Tippecanoe) and Jay Patel (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge) finished second in a time of 3:31.15.
- Jeremiah Owusu (Columbus, OH / Thomas Worthington) was second in the high jump with a leap of 2.00 meters.
- Andrew Owen (Springfield, OH / Springfield) took fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.80 meters.
- Matthew Keaton (Westerville, OH / North) added another second-place finish as he reached a mark of 4.45 meters in the pole vault.
- Antonio Weaver (Columbus, OH / Independence) finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.86 meters.
