Elliott, Davis Advance to Finals at NCAA Indoor Championships
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Two of the three Tigers who qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships advanced to the finals in their respective events on Day 1 of the meet at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) turned in a stellar performance in his first appearance in an NCAA championship meet as he crossed the finish line in his heat of the 400-meter dash in a time of 47.73, good for third place out of 20 runners. He finished second in his heat behind Collin Conzemius of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, who recorded a time of 46.92, one of the best times in the event in NCAA Division III history, and will head to the finals tomorrow with the top seed time.
Grant Nelson from Bethel won his heat with a time of 47.20 to stand second after the prelims. Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) also won his heat, but his time of 48.24 put him in 12th place. Only the top eight runners in the event advanced to the finals, which will take place at 5:35 p.m. Saturday.
Kory Davis (Brookville, OH / Brookville) also advanced to the finals in his event, the 60-meter hurdles. He broke his own school record by .03 to finish third in his heat and eighth out of 20 competitors with a time of 8.06. Gunner Meyer of Central (Iowa) posted the top time of 7.91, followed closely by Blake Postler of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 7.92. The 60-meter hurdles finals will take place at 11:40 a.m. Saturday.
