Tiger Teams Impress at Emory Thrills in the Hills
ATLANTA, GA - Wittenberg's Men's and Women's Track & Field teams made the long trip to Georgia to conpete in the Emory Thrills in the Hills, and multiple athletes turned in outstanding performances for the Tigers.
The men were once again highlighted by Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) and Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls), as they finished second and third in the 400 meters, respectively, with times of 47.03 and 47.49 seconds, respectively. Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH / Northmont) also took first in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:58.60 and first in the 5,000 meters as well in 14:50.57. Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) took second in the 100-meter hurdle finals with a time of 14.83 seconds, less than one hundreth of a second behind the first place finisher. Kittle and Elliott again performed well, along with Nate Warburton (Jensen Beach, FL / Jensen Beach) and Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport Madison (OH)), with a second-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay in just 41.16 seconds. Elliott and Kittle then achieved their first top finish of the day along with Kory Davis (Brookville, OH / Brookville) and Owen Bier (Elyria, OH / Midview) in the 4x400 meter relay with a blazing time of 3:11.93.
On the women's side, Morgan Hunter (Rockford, OH / Parkway) took fourth place in the 100 meters in 12.67 seconds. The first top finish for the women's team was Alex Couch (Howard, OH / Mount Vernon), as she took first place in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:55.85. Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad) highlighted the field events for the women's team, taking second place in the high jump with a leap of 1.63 meters.
Men's Additional Top 10 Finishes
- Simmons took eighth in the 100 meter prelims with a time of 10.63 seconds.
- Simmons also was sixth in the 200 meters in 21.57 seconds.
- Davis took first in the 110 meter prelims in a time fo 14.45 seconds, but was DQ'ed in the final
- Jeremiah Owusu (Columbus, OH / Thomas Worthington) was eighth in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters.
- Matthew Keaton (Westerville, OH / North) took sixth in the pole vault at 4.40 meters.
- In the long jump Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH / St. Francis DeSales) was fifth, jumping 6.62 meters.
- Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville) finished in ninth place in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.05 meters.
Women's Additional Top 15 Finishes
- Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) was 13th in the 400 meters, finishing in 58.54 seconds.
- Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) took eighth in the 3,000 meters in a time of 11:02.78.
- Svetlana Daniels (London, OH / Madison Plains) took ninth in the same event in 11:17.34.
- Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH / Mentor) finished 12th in the 5,000 meters in 18:18.20.
- Eaton was 13th in the 100 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 15.73 seconds.
- Kelley was ninth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 12:10.56.
- The 4x100 meter relay team of Hunter, Danne, My'Ana Yancey (Canal Winchester, OH / Groveport-Madison) and Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak) were seventh in 49.75.
- The 4x400 team of Danne, Delp, Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield) and Hallie Haines (Hillsboro, OH / Fairfield) came in seventh with a time of 4:05.19.
- Rebekah Case (Mansfield, OH / Lucas) was fifth in the pole vault, going 3.35 meters.
- Tiffany Hix (Prospect, OH / Elgin) was eighth in the pole vault with 3.20 meters.
- Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) was tenth in pole vault at 3.20 meters.
- Tyra Jackson (Lorain, OH / Lorain) finished in 12th in the long jump with a leap of 5.13 meters.
- Eaton also took eighth in the javelin with a distance of 28.95 meters.
