Tiger Track & Field Excels at Ohio Wesleyan
DELAWARE, OH - Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track & Field made the short trip to Delaware, Ohio, for Ohio Wesleyan's Marv Frye Invitational, and even with a relatively limited lineup, the Tigers impressed. Wittenberg's men finished second in the eight-team field, while the Tiger women placed sixth.
The Tigers had 12 top-three finishes in men's events and three more in women's events. Four Tigers won their events as Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) took the top spot in the 200-meter dash, Owen Bier (Elyria, OH / Midview) led the way in the 400-meter hurdles, Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) was tops in the 110-meter hurdles, and Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport Madison (OH)) crossed the line in first in the 100-meter dash, in the process setting a school record with a time of 10.48 seconds.
Elsewhere in men's events, Troy Cosby placed third in the discus, Antonio Weaver took second in the long jump, Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville) finished second in the hammer, Jeremiah Owusu placed second in high jump, Omega Waller was second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the 400-meter hurdles, Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) placed third in the 200-meter dash, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Sky Howard (Springfield, OH / Springfield), Simmons, Dashawn Seye (Centerville, OH / Centerville), and JHoodley Tillien (Springfield, OH / Springfield) took second place.
On the women's side, Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad) placed second in the long jump and Abby Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) took second in the 800 meters. In addition, the 4x100-meter relay quartet of My'Ana Yancey (Canal Winchester, OH / Groveport-Madison), Danne, Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak), and Morgan Hunter (Rockford, OH / Parkway) finished third.
