Tigers Sweep Saturday Road Trip in Illinois
GREENVILLE, IL – Wittenberg's Men's Volleyball went 2-0 on Saturday, Feb. 28, earning straight-set victories over host Greenville and Bryant & Stratton in Illinois at HJ Long Gymnasium.
Wittenberg opened the day with a straight-set victory over Greenville, 3-0. controlling the match from start to finish and winning in scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-18.
The Tigers jumped out early in the first set, using balanced attacking and consistent serving pressure to gain separation and secure a 25-18 win. Wittenberg maintained that rhythm in the second set, limiting Greenville's offensive opportunities and closing it out 25-17 behind sustained defense and timely kills. In the third set, Greenville hung close early, but the Tigers responded with a series of strong swings and disciplined serving to pull away. Wittenberg remained steady in transition and at the net, eventually closing the set, 25-18, to complete the sweep.
Wittenberg completed its Saturday sweep with a straight-set 3-0 win over Bryant & Stratton in scores of 25-9, 28-26, and 25-22, with the final two sets tightly contested.
The Tigers dominated the opening set, jumping out early behind strong serving and efficient attacking to secure a decisive 25-9 victory. Bryant & Stratton responded in the second set, keeping pace throughout and forcing extra points. Wittenberg remained composed late, capitalizing on key swings to close out the set. The third set featured another competitive battle, but the Tigers used steady defense and timely offense to create separation late and seal the match.
Harrison Mitchell (Dublin, OH / Scioto) led the offense with 12 kills on .500 hitting, while Carson Hill (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East) directed the attack efficiently. Noah Vencill (Kingsville, OH / Edgewood) anchored the back row with a team-high 10 digs as Wittenberg finished the day 2-0.
Team Leaders vs. Greenville
- Harrison Mitchell (Dublin, OH / Scioto) and Eli Halverson (Hamilton, OH / Badin) led the team with 10 kills each. Reese Monnin (Xenia, OH / Carroll) added five kills, and Trajan Kress (Cincinnati, OH / Sycamore) and Zach Newton (Morgantown, IN / Franklin Community) added four each.
- Carson Hill (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East) led the team in assists with 18, while Gavin Hagerty (Fishers, IN / Fishers) picked up 10.
- Trajan Kress led the team in service aces with five. He also recorded 7 digs, followed by Downs, Vencill, and Hagerty with four each.

- Wittenberg had 38 kills on 70 total attacks for a .343 hitting percentage, along with 33 assists, 8 service aces, 26 digs, and 7.0 total blocks.
- Greenville had 20 kills on 68 total attacks for a .015 hitting percentage, along with 20 assists, 6 service aces, 15 digs, and 7.0 total blocks.
Team Leaders vs. Bryant & Stratton
- Mitchell led the team with 12 kills on 22 total attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. He added 13 points, one service ace, and four digs.
- Vencill added 10 digs, followed by Kress with five, and Cunningham and Mitchell with four each.
