Men’s Volleyball Earns Sweep of Olivet
OLIVET, MI – It's five in a row for Wittenberg Men's Volleyball as the Tigers earned a sweep on the road, taking down the University of Olivet in three-straight sets, 3-0, in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) match at the Cutler Event Center, Saturday afternoon, March 21.
Tested a little bit throughout the three sets, Wittenberg won in scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-21 to secure the victory and improve to 15-5 overall and 4-1 in the MCVL. Olivet falls to 5-17 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
Wittenberg outhit the Comets in each of the three sets, .360 to .077 in set one, .318 to .087 in set two, and .303 to .032 in set three.
Zach Newton (Morgantown, IN / Franklin Community) led the Tigers in kills with 11 on 19 total attacks. He also had 11 points. Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, IN / Bishop Chatard) added nine kills on 23 total attacks and two blocks for a total of 11.5 points. Eli Halverson (Hamilton, OH / Badin) anchored the defense, grabbing a team-high 10 digs.
Carson Hill (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East) led the team in assists with 22, and Gavin Hagerty (Fishers, IN / Fishers) added 11.

- Wittenberg had 39 kills on 80 total attacks for a .325 hitting percentage, along with 38 assists, four service aces, 38 digs, and five blocks.
- Olivet had 20 kills on 80 total attacks for a .062 hitting percentage, along with 17 assists, seven service aces, 27 digs, and six blocks.
