Four Tigers Earn MCVL All-League Honors
Springfield, OH-Four total Wittenberg men's volleyball student-athletes earned Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) All-League recognition for the 2026 season.
Senior Eli Halverson (Hamilton, OH / Badin) was the lone Tiger to earn MCVL All-League First Team honors. Senior Michael Yurk (Indianapolis, IN / Bishop Chatard) and junior Reese Monnin (Xenia, OH / Carroll) were named to the second team, while sophomore Zach Newton (Morgantown, IN / Franklin Community) earned a spot as an honorable mention.
Halverson had his best offensive season, statistically, leading the team with 262 kills and averaged 3.12 kills per set with a .326 hitting percentage. Halverson also added 15 assists and 28 service aces on the season to go with 155 digs and 26 total blocks to close out the season with 310 points and 3.7 points per set. In the last weekend of the season, Halverson reached two career milestones, surpassing 1,000 kills and reaching 100 service aces.
Yurk also surpassed 1,000 career kills this season as well. He was second on the team with 224 kills and averaged 2.91 per set and hit .238. Yurk added 20 service aces, 10 assists, 30 blocks and logged 146 digs en route to end the season with 266.5 points to average 3.5 per set.
Monnin led the team in hitting percentage at .390 and blocks with 47. He ended the season with 138 kills and 14 aces with 10 assists. Monnin was also able to log 48 digs and his 47 blocks let to averaging .59 blocks per set and closed out the regular season with 181 points for 2.3 points per set.
Newton earned honorable mention recognition, as he was third on the team with 187 kills with 2.34 per set while hitting .293. Newton also added 9 assists, 7 service aces, 72 digs and 28 total blocks to his stat line on the season. At the end of the regular season, Newton totaled 222 points and averaged 2.8 points per set.
Wittenberg closed the regular season with a 19-5 overall record, ending the season on a nine match win streak to earn a share of the regular season title with Trine. With the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Thunder, the Tigers earned the right to hos the MCVL Conference Tournament that begins on Friday, April 10 as the Tigers will take on Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m. after Trine and Calvin do battle at 4 p.m. The championship match will be played on Saturday, April 11 at 3 p.m. to determine which team will earn an NCAA Tournament bid.
