Tigers Face The Buckeye State At All-Ohio Championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Wittenberg cross country teams faced off with most of the state on Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Cedarville University. The women finished 14^th among 21 NCAA Division III teams and the men finished 16^th among 22.

The women were led by junior Molly King (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern) in 36^th on a time of 19:37.78 on the 5k course. The next Tiger to finish was senior Chesley Williams (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury), who crossed in 20:44.06 in 80^th, followed by a trio of runners in close proximity.

They included junior Maggie McIlvain (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool), junior Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and freshman Sarah Ellis (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) in 97^th, 98^th and 100^th, respectively.

For the men, junior Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford) set the pace with a 30^th-place finish on a time of 26:47.10 on the 8k course. Senior Trevor Grandy (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) was next in 49^th on a time of 27:13.49, followed immediately by junior Wade Westbrook (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) less than two seconds behind in 50^th.

Sophomore Adam Kapuscinski (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) rounded out the Tigers' top 100 finishers in 96^th.

The Tigers will rest over Wittenberg's Homecoming Weekend before participating in the Wilmington Invitational on Friday, Oct. 12.
