BEXLEY, Ohio—The Wittenberg Tigers traveled to Bexley to take on OAC opponent Capital Tuesday evening in a double-header. Wittenberg left the day splitting the double-header after dropping the first game 7-1, and blanking Capital in game two 6-0. Despite allowing seven runs in the first game, only three of Capital runs were earned, as the Tigers committed four errors in the loss. In game two, Chelsea Zang (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) produced seven dominant innings for the Tigers, as the junior only surrendered one lone hit to Capital in the win. The split puts Wittenberg at 13-2-1 on the season as the Tigers await the start of NCAC play.
GAME ONE NOTES
- Wittenberg was only able to muster three hits against Capital's starter in the 7-1 loss.
- Sam Bausch (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) produced the only RBI of the game for Wittenberg, scoring Loren Combs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin).
- All four errors for the Wittenberg resulted in runs for Capital in the loss.
GAME TWO NOTES
- Errors plagued Capital in game two, as the Tigers were able to put up six runs on the score board on six hits, with only two of them being earned runs.
- Wittenberg capitalized on all three of Capital's errors in game two while the Tigers cleaned things up defensively and only committed one error in the win.
- Zang was the story of game two, striking out five batters, with no walks, while only giving up one hit.
KEY STATS
- Six different Tigers had hits in the game two victory, while Casey Hobbs (Fairborn, Ohio/Carroll) paced the Tigers with two RBI's.
- Zang only needed 73 pitches to make quick-work of Capital, as the sophomore threw 75% strikes in the win.
