McCans Earns NCAC Athlete of the Week Honors

Graduate student Meghan McCans (Arcanum, OH/Arcanum) led the Tigers to a 3-1 week with a standout performance at the plate and on the basepaths. McCans batted .462 (6-for-13) with one RBI, one run, and six stolen bases while posting a 1.000 fielding percentage with eight putouts. She helped pace Wittenberg’s offense in a 5-2 win over Earlham, going 1-for-3 with a run, a walk, and a stolen base. In Saturday’s 3-2 walk-off victory over Ohio Wesleyan, McCans earned a walk and stole three bases, while going 3-for-3 which included the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh. She added another hit and stolen base in the second game of the doubleheader with OWU, during which she broke both the Wittenberg and NCAC career stolen base records, reaching 100 steals.
