Tigers overwhelm Earlham to remain atop NCAC
The Wittenberg Tigers outscored the host Earlham Quakers 28-10 in the first 10 minutes of the second half to break open a close game. From there the Tigers cruised home to win the game 91-64 and remain in a first-place tie atop the NCAC with Denison.
RICHMOND, IND. - The Wittenberg Tigers outscored the host Earlham Quakers 28-10 in the first 10 minutes of the second half to break open a close game. From there the Tigers cruised home to win the game 91-64 and remain in a first-place tie atop the NCAC with Denison.
Wittenberg held a 44-36 lead at halftime before really turning it on. For the game, the Tigers had 38 rebounds, including a season-high 19 on the offensive end, and place five players in double figures in scoring. In addition, Wittenberg committed a season-low 10 turnovers, with no player committing more than two in the game.
Leading the charge on offense was junior forward Tiffany Keller, who put up 14 points in just 14 minutes of action. Once again, she was sharp in her shooting, making seven of her 11 shots from the floor. Junior guards Kate Rolf and Stephanie Campbell chipped in with 13 and 12 points, while senior forward Jill Swary and sophomore forward Haley Warden were strong up front with 10 points apiece.
The win improved Wittenberg to 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the NCAC. The Tigers are back in action at home on Saturday against Wooster, before hitting the road for a game at Oberlin next Wednesday and then a likely first-place showdown at home against Denison next Saturday.
