Wittenberg Closes Out Regular Season with Road Rout

OBERLIN, Ohio - A complete team effort sent the Tiger women's basketball team into the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) postseason on a high note after a 91-50 domination of Oberlin in the regular season finale. Of the 17 players that dressed for the game, every one played at least three minutes, and all but two entered the final score column.

A trio of double-figure scorers was led by junior Stephanie Boardman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley), who controlled the block with 19 points while making 9-of-10 free throw tries. The hot shooting from the line proved to be one of the storylines of the day for Head Coach Sarah Jurewicz' squad as the team piled up 21 points at the line on 26 attempts, by far their best shooting performance of the season.

As impressive as the free throw shooting turned out, the three-point shooting was just as prolific, with seven different players collecting at least one trey en route to 8-of-15 shooting. Such a performance exemplified the afternoon, with even distribution in virtually every category.

Sophomore wing Katherine Hueter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) stuffed the stat box with an astounding seven assists to join her seven boards and four points. Meanwhile, freshman Sarah Watson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was the benefactor of a number of the team's 22 assists as she poured in 11 points. The Tigers also controlled the boards to the tune of a 60-32 rebounding margin.

With the bracket set for the upcoming NCAC Tournament, the Tigers face a quarterfinal at Ohio Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. The two teams split the regular season meetings with the home team vicorious on both occasions, while the Tigers got the better of things in last year's NCAC Tournament semifinals with a win in a game played at Kenyon.
