Enri Small Named To D3hoops.com National Team Of The Week
For the second straight week, Wittenberg is represented on the d3hoops.com Team of the Week as Enri Small gains recognition for her breakout performances.
Springfield, Ohio – For the second time in as many weeks, Wittenberg women's basketball is represented on the d3hoops.com Team of the Week after sophomore Enri Small (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) was selected for her stellar performance in a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) wins.
Also named NCAC Player of the Week, Small posted multiple career high statistical totals while leading the Tigers to victories over Hiram on Friday, Jan. 4, and Allegheny on Saturday, Jan. 5. Wittenberg's modest win streak is now four, while the Tigers have moved above the .500 mark for the first time in the 2012-13 season at 7-6 overall and, more importantly, 3-1 in the NCAC.
Coming off a pair of victories that clinched the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic a week earlier, the Tigers started slowly against both Hiram and Allegheny before Small got things going. Against Hiram, Small doubled her personal best in rebounds with 14 and tied her high-water mark for assists with four, while also pouring in 20 points and a career-high seven steals, good for the third-best single-game total in program history.
Less than 24 hours later, Small matched her career-high point total with 23, including eight in a row that erased a 13-12 first-half deficit. She added seven rebounds and another six steals.
Small's Team of the Week selection comes just one week after sophomore Katelyn Haralamos (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) earned recognition for her MVP performance in the Zimmerman Classic.
Small now leads the Tigers with 11.9 points per game, and she ranks second on the team in rebounds at 5.3 per outing. In addition, her 29 steals are tops on the team and also rank fourth in the NCAC.
