Tigers Compete Well In Pennsylania Tournaments
VERSAILLES, PA – Wittenberg's men's and women's bowling teams took to the lanes for the first time in the new year, traveling to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to compete in two tournaments, Jan. 10-11, hosted by St. Vincent College. Wittenberg competed in the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic on Saturday and in the Western PA Baker Shootout on Sunday, both at New Great Valley Lanes in North Versailles, Pennsylvania.
While the Tiger men finished 14th with a total score of 4,553, Jacob Terpenning (Beavercreek, OH / Beavercreek) had an amazing weekend, starting with a fourth place finish in the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic with a 633 series. By placing fourth out of 137 bowlers, Terpenning became the first Wittenberg bowler to make an all-tournament team in a tournament.
For the two events, the Tigers rolled three traditional games and three sets of four Baker bowling games with the final standings determined by total pinfall over the two competitions that featured Division I, II, and III teams. Other top Tiger finishers at the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic included Landon Kegley (Springfield, OH / Northwestern) in 71st with a series of 474 and Jackson Hill (New Carlisle, OH / Tecumseh) in 78th with a series of 445.
The women's team only competed in the Baker shootout and came in fifth out of 11 teams, rolling no individual games.
Up next, the Tiger men will compete in the Ohio Bowling Conference 3 in Columbus, Ohio, on Jan. 22 at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace.
