SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers put together a solid team performance at the 2008 Wittenberg Women's Golf Spring Invitational, finishing with a 373, good for fourth place in the final standings.
Nationally ranked Otterbein overwhelmed the field, putting four golfers among the top six in the individual standings to post a 329. Malone was second with a 358, followed by Ohio Northern at 363 and Wittenberg. ONU's put a B team in the field as well, and that quintet carded a 371.
Individually, the victor was Otterbein's Catherine Brunoehler, who finished with a 79. She was followed by teammates Natalie King with an 81 and Emily with an 83 on Windy Knoll's par-71, 5811-yard course.
Of note, all five Wittenberg golfers in the starting lineup broke 100, and all seven Tigers in the 75-player field scored 103 or better, the best team performance since the program was re-introduced in 2003.
While junior Jennifer Petro (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) led the way as usual with a 90, good for 15th place, she was joined on this day by sophomore Kristina Herman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills). She posted collegiate bests of 41 on the front nine and 90 overall to tie Petro for 15th in the individual standings. They were followed by freshman Anna Bencriscutto (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) with a 95 and sophomore Kimberleigh McClure (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) with a 98. All were in the top 30 individually.
